Medusa wird vom Meeresgott Poseidon entführt und vergewaltigt. Athene ist erzürnt und verwandelt Medusa in eine geflügelte Gestalt mit Schlangenhaaren, deren Anblick alle zu Stein erstarren lässt. Nicht wenige Männer begeben sich auf die Reise, um ihr den Kopf abzuschlagen und sich ihre Macht anzueignen. Perseus gelingt das – die Anti-Heldin wird überlistet und geköpft.

So der Mythos, so der Referenzrahmen für die Autorin Sivan Ben Yishai, die in ihrem poetischen und kraftvollen Text dem patriarchalen Geschlechtermodell den Spiegel vorhält. Ben Yishai ist eine moderne Vermessung des kultur- und epochenübergreifenden Gewaltsystems gelungen, das sich durch Duldung und Unterstützung reproduziert. Die Erzählenergie des Textes lässt uns Teil einer wuchtigen Verfolgungsfahrt werden – auf den asphaltierten Highways der Geschichte, rückwärts und vorwärts.

In der fulminanten Inszenierung von Pınar Karabulut bilden fünf starke Schauspieler*innen einen gemeinschaftlichen Erzählkörper, der den Text in eine choreografische Partitur von fast schmerzhafter Direktheit überführt. Die vom Theatertreffen der Berliner Festspiele preisgekrönte Arbeit findet nun, zum Auftakt der neuen Intendanz, am Schauspielhaus Zürich ein neues Zuhause.

Medusa is abducted and raped by the sea god Poseidon. Athena is enraged and transforms Medusa into a winged figure with snake hair, whose gaze turns everyone to stone. Many men set out to cut off her head and claim her power. Perseus succeeds, the anti heroine is outwitted and beheaded.

Such is the myth, such is the frame of reference for the author Sivan Ben Yishai, who in her poetic and powerful text holds up a mirror to the patriarchal gender model. Ben Yishai succeeds in a modern mapping of the cross cultural and cross epoch system of violence that reproduces itself through tolerance and support. The narrative drive of the text makes us part of a forceful pursuit across the asphalted highways of history, backwards and forwards.

In the stunning staging by Pınar Karabulut, five strong actors form a collective storytelling body that transforms the text into a choreographed score of almost painful directness. The production, awarded at the Berliner Festspiele Theatertreffen, now finds a new home at the Schauspielhaus Zürich at the start of the new artistic direction.

Melde dich für die Organisationskomitees um dein Lieblingsevents mitorganisieren oder dich melde dich als Helfer. Falles es dein Event/deine Idee noch nicht gibt, kannst du das Kulturteam anfragen für ein neues Event und mit Leuten vor Ort ein OK Team kreieren. Nachdem die Events zugeteilt sind, offerieren wir euch gratis was zu Essen und Trinken. Dabei habt ihr die Gelegenheit das Kulturteam besser kennen zu lernen und die das Wissen über die Eventorganisation auszutauschen.

Der Übergang vom Studium ins Berufsleben ist spannend, kann aber auch viele Fragen aufwerfen. Wo beginnt man mit der Jobsuche? Welche Strategien funktionieren tatsächlich? Und wie finden Absolvent:innen ihren ersten Job nach der ETH?

Die Veranstaltung beginnt mit einer Keynote von Anja Pauling vom ETH Career Center zum Thema „Job Search Strategies“.

Dabei geht es unter anderem um:
• den Career Management Cycle
• reaktive und proaktive Strategien bei der Jobsuche
• typische Missverständnisse rund um die Jobsuche
• Möglichkeiten, während des Bewerbungsprozesses motiviert zu bleiben

Anschliessend geht es von der Theorie in die Praxis.

In einer Podiumsdiskussion berichten ehemalige AMIV-/ETH-Studierende von ihrem persönlichen Weg ins Berufsleben. Dabei möchten wir unterschiedliche Wege beleuchten — von Praktika und klassischen Bewerbungen über Networking, Start-ups und Forschung bis hin zu Graduate Programs und anderen Einstiegsmöglichkeiten.

Die Panelist:innen sprechen offen darüber, was für sie funktioniert hat, was sie überrascht hat, welche Fähigkeiten in ihrem Berufsleben wichtig wurden und was sie heute anders machen würden, wenn sie noch einmal vor dem Berufseinstieg stünden.

Im Anschluss laden wir euch zu einem Apéro ein — eine gute Gelegenheit, die Gespräche mit den Speaker:innen und anderen Studierenden persönlich fortzusetzen.

The transition from university into working life can be exciting, but also uncertain. Where do you start looking? Which job-search strategies actually work? And how do people really find their first position after ETH?

The event begins with a keynote by Anja Pauling from the ETH Career Center on “Job Search Strategies”.

The keynote will cover topics including:
• the career management cycle
• reactive vs. proactive job-search strategies
• common misconceptions about the job search
• ways to stay motivated throughout the process

Afterwards, the discussion moves from strategy to real experience.

In a panel discussion, former AMIV/ETH students will share how they found their way into their careers. We want to explore different paths into professional life — from internships and regular applications to networking, startups, research, graduate programmes and other routes.

The panelists will talk openly about what worked for them, what surprised them, the skills that became important in their careers, and what they would do differently if they were graduating today.

After the event, join us for an Apéro and continue the conversation with the speakers and fellow students.

Was verändert sich, wenn Ingenieur:innen auf völlig unterschiedlichen Grössenskalen arbeiten?

Diese Podiumsdiskussion bringt Ingenieur:innen und technische Führungskräfte zusammen, die auf sehr unterschiedlichen Grössenskalen arbeiten — von hochpräziser Detektor- und Hochgeschwindigkeitstechnologie bis hin zu Energieinfrastruktur und nationalen Bahnnetzen.

Gemeinsam diskutieren sie, wie die Grössenskala eines Systems die Art und Weise beeinflusst, wie Ingenieur:innen entwickeln, testen, iterieren und Probleme lösen.

Wie entwickelt man Technologien, bei denen extreme Präzision, kleinste Toleranzen und hohe Geschwindigkeiten darüber entscheiden können, ob ein System funktioniert? Wie entwickelt man gleichzeitig Systeme, die Strom, Güter und Menschen zuverlässig über ganze Länder hinweg bewegen müssen? Und welche technischen Herausforderungen bleiben trotz dieser Unterschiede überraschend ähnlich?

What changes when engineers work at completely different physical scales?

This panel brings together engineers and technical leaders working across very different scales — from high-precision detector and high-speed machine technology to energy infrastructure and railway networks.

Together, they will discuss how the scale of a system influences the way engineers design, test, iterate and solve problems.

How do you design technology where extreme precision, tiny tolerances and high speeds can determine whether a system works? How do you design systems that must reliably move electricity, goods and people across entire countries? And despite these differences, which engineering challenges remain surprisingly similar?

Zum Semesterstart gibt es ein neues Event auf amivmc, dem offiziellen AMIV-Minecraftserver! (spielen unter mc.amiv.ethz.ch, Java v26.2)

Es geht darum, in zwei Kategorien das schönste, coolste und beste Gebäude zu errichten.
1. Kategorie, Basis: Eine Heimatbasis, die nicht nur als Lager- und Schlafplatz dient, sondern auch optisch etwas hermacht. Eine riesige Burg? Oder doch lieber eine gläserne Kuppel im Himmel? Deine Wahl.
2. Kategorie, Farm: Für diejenigen, die gerne das Maximum aus den Spielmechaniken herausholen, und das auch noch stilvoll. Was genau gefarmt wird, ist beliebig.

Zum angegebenen Zeitpunkt wird sich die Jury eure Bauwerke ansehen und ihr Urteil fällen. Es gibt Preise zu gewinnen!

To start the new semester, there is a new event on amivmc, the official AMIV Minecraft server! (play at mc.amiv.ethz.ch, Java v26.2)

The contest is about building the prettiest, coolest and overall best building in two categories:
1. Category, Base: A homebase which not only serves as a place to sleep and store supplies, but which also impresses with looks. A huge castle? Or rather a dome of glass in the sky? Your choice.
2. Category, Farm: For those who like to get most out of the game mechanics, and do so with style. What exactly you are farming is not so important.

At the specified time the jury will view your builds and determine the winner. There is cool stuff to be won!

Dafür hat der AMIV für euch einen Postenlauf organisiert, bei dem ihr uns besser kennen lernt: Euren Fachverein. Natürlich gibt es nach der Rallye und der Siegerehrung noch Bier und Grill, also kommt doch einfach am Mittwoch (16.09.2026) um 13:30 im CAB Kieshof (da wo der Ersti Apero war) vorbei, findet euch zu fünft in Teams und erkundet Zürich auf spielerische Weise!

After a successful start to the first semester, it is now time to explore Zurich and the ETH on the student side. For this purpose, AMIV has organized a post-run for you, where you can get to know us: your student association. LIMES Kickoff Meeting

Komm zu unserem External Relations Team Kickoff, bei dem du uns kennenlernen, mehr über unsere Arbeit erfahren und leckere Pizza genießen kannst. External Relations konzentriert sich auf den Aufbau von Partnerschaften, die Pflege von Kommunikation und die Organisation von Sponsoren, um AMIV mit der Außenwelt zu vernetzen. Die perfekte Gelegenheit, sich zu engagieren und neue Leute zu treffen! Essen und trinken gibts natürich auch.

Join us at the ER Kickoff event, where you can meet us, learn more about what we do, and enjoy some pizza.
External Relations focuses on building partnerships, managing communications, and coordinating sponsorships to connect AMIV with the outside world. It’s the perfect opportunity to get involved, meet new people, and become part of the team!

External Relations Kickoff

Es wird wieder eingemaischt ins neue Semester. Kommt bei unserer Garage hinter dem CAB Gebäude vorbei und lernt wie man Bier macht. Natürlich gibts Bier für alle die uns aushelfen. 

Come drop by the Garage behind CAB and see how a beer is made. There will be beer on tap, and we can always use a helping hand.

Gespielt wird 6 gegen 6, mit mindestens zwei Frauen auf dem Feld!

Es gibt zwei Kategorien: Fun und Intermediate.

Bitte wählt eure Kategorie fair:
Teams mit mehr als einem Mitglied mit einer Profi-Lizenz wird dringend empfohlen, in der Intermediate-Kategorie anzutreten. Da es keine Profi-Kategorie gibt, sind maximal vier lizenzierte Spieler*innen pro Team erlaubt.

📌 Important Info:

Only the team leader needs to register.

Games are played 6 vs 6, with at least two women on the court at all times!

We play with 2 categories: Fun and Intermediate.

Please choose your category carefully:
Teams with more than one member holding a professional license are strongly encouraged to register in the Intermediate category. Since there is no Pro category, a maximum of four licensed players is allowed per team.
