Board Member for the University Politics Resort

The university politics (ger.: Hochschulpolitik, HoPo) HoPo board member is responsible for the organization and coordination of the student representation toward the department and faculty. Whenever there is a problem with everyday student life, you can get in touch here.

If you are interested in participating as a student representative, you are welcome to contact the respective HoPo board member. We look forward to meeting you!

Semester Speakers

Semester speakers represent your interests to the lecturers.

You can contact them if there is a problem with a professor, a lecturer, a TA or anything else regarding a specific lecture.

The semester speakers are appointed by the respective HoPo board member in the beginning of each semester.

Representation in the Bodies of the Departement

Teaching Commission

The Teaching Commission (ger.: Unterrichtskommission, UK) discusses broader study related problems within the department. Therefore, it is the most important body in the department for students. The UK usually meets twice a semester. If there is a more general problem with teaching (and not with a specific lecture), contact the respective delegates.

Department Conference

The Department Conference (ger.: Departmentskonferenze, DK) is the highest body of the department. General matters and problems of the department are discussed here. Usually the DK meets twice a semester.

Representation in the Bodies of VSETH

VSETH

The Student Association at ETH (german: Verband der Studierenden an der ETH, VSETH) is the umbrella organisation of all student associations at ETH. The board organises large events, oversees the work of commissions and student associations and organizes the university-political representation with regard to ETH.

Member Council

The member council (german: Mitgliederrat, MR) functions like the general assembly of VSETH and thus its highest legislative body. Here, the budget as well as the bill will be decided upon and the VSETH board is elected. All other big decisions will be discussed here. The MR usually meets three times a year.

Student Association Council

The student association council (german: Fachvereinsrat, FR) is the controlling body of the VSETH board and meets every three to four weeks during the semester. Here, student associations (like AMIV) can additionally discuss VSETH-wide topics such as events and their financial support, university-political topics that concern multiple student associations as well as the preparations for the MR.
