We will start with an exclusive tour of the Limmern power plant, operated by Axpo, and then travel together to Braunwald. There, you can look forward to a relaxed weekend with time for hiking, games, and spending time together. Get to know new people, enjoy the mountains, and become part of the LIMES community!

Lerne die grundlegende Fähigkeit, die Elektronik zum Leben erweckt. In diesem praxisorientierten Anfänger-Workshop entdeckst du, wie du stabile, zuverlässige Lötverbindungen herstellst und Bastlis Lötwerkzeuge sicher und selbstbewusst verwendest.

Wir behandeln die Grundlagen, darunter Löttemperatur, bleihaltiges vs. bleifreies Lötzinn, Flussmittel, das Löten von Through-Hole-Bauteilen sowie das Vorverzinnen von Kabeln. Außerdem lernst du praktische Reparatur- und Reinigungstechniken mit Entlötlitze und Entlötpumpe, wie du die richtige Lötspitze auswählst und was eine perfekte Lötstelle ausmacht.
Du baust ein kleines, von uns vorbereitetes Lötset zusammen und konstruierst deine eigene 8×16-Pixel-Spielkonsole zum Mitnehmen. Vorkenntnisse sind nicht erforderlich.

Learn the essential skill that brings electronics to life. In this hands-on beginner workshop, you’ll discover how to create strong, reliable solder joints and confidently use Bastli’s soldering equipment.

We’ll cover the fundamentals, including soldering temperature, leaded vs. unleaded solder, flux, through-hole soldering, and how to pre-tin wires. You’ll also learn practical repair and cleanup techniques using solder wick and solder suckers, how to choose the right tip, and what makes a perfect solder joint.

You’ll assemble a small soldering kit that we’ve prepared and build your own 8×16 pixel game console to take home. No prior experience required.

Introductory Soldering Workshop at Bastli

Bereit, deine Lötfähigkeiten weiterzuentwickeln? Dieser Workshop für Fortgeschrittene führt dich in Werkzeuge und Techniken ein, die in der modernen Elektronik verwendet werden – mit besonderem Fokus auf präzises SMD-Löten (Surface-Mount).

Du lernst, Flussmittel richtig einzusetzen, Entlötlitze für saubere Nacharbeiten souverän zu verwenden und winzige Bauteile unter dem Mikroskop zu löten. Außerdem behandeln wir professionelle Methoden wie das Auftragen von Lötpaste (manuell und pneumatisch), das Löten auf der Heizplatte sowie Heißlufttechniken zum Löten und Entlöten.

Du übst an einer speziell für diesen Workshop vorbereiteten SMD-Übungsplatine und sammelst dabei praktische Erfahrungen mit Werkzeugen und Arbeitsabläufen, wie sie in der fortgeschrittenen Elektronikfertigung eingesetzt werden.

Wir empfehlen dringend, zuvor den Einführungs-Lötworkshop zu absolvieren oder über vergleichbare Vorkenntnisse zu verfügen.

Ready to level up your soldering skills? This intermediate workshop introduces the tools and techniques used for modern electronics, with a focus on precise SMD (surface-mount) soldering.

You’ll learn how to properly use flux, master solder wicking for clean rework, and solder tiny components under the microscope. We’ll also cover professional methods including solder paste dispensing (manual and pneumatic), heat plate soldering, and hot air techniques for both soldering and desoldering.

You’ll practice on a dedicated SMD kit board prepared for this workshop, giving you real hands-on experience with the tools and workflows used in advanced electronics assembly.

We highly recommend completing the introductory soldering workshop or having equivalent experience before attending.

Entdecke die Werkzeuge, die deine Elektronikprojekte zum Leben erwecken. Dieser Workshop stellt dir die wichtigsten Laborgeräte bei Bastli vor und zeigt dir, wie du sie sicher und effektiv einsetzt.
Du lernst den Umgang mit regelbaren Labornetzteilen (einschließlich Reihen- und Parallelschaltung), Funktionsgeneratoren, Multimetern, LCR-Messgeräten und Transistortestern. Ausserdem behandeln wir die praktische Nutzung von Lötstationen, Heissluftgeräten sowie Diagnosewerkzeugen wie der Wärmebildkamera.
Am Ende weisst du, welche Geräte zur Verfügung stehen, wann du sie einsetzt und wie du selbstständig, sicher und souverän an deinen eigenen Projekten bei Bastli arbeiten kannst.

Lab Equipment Introduction at Bastli

Komm am 14. März um 18:00 Uhr zu Bastli und nimm an einem kurzen, praxisorientierten Fräsworkshop teil!
Du lernst die Maschinensicherheit, die Grundlagen der Metallbearbeitung sowie die grundlegende Bedienung der Maschine (Digitalanzeige/DRO, Einrichten des Schraubstocks, Einsatz von Schaftfräsern usw.). Wir behandeln Bohren und Planfräsen und fertigen vielleicht sogar ein paar praktische T-Nutensteine an (ein ideales erstes Projekt!). Komm vorbei und lerne, wie aus Rohmaterial präzise Bauteile entstehen!

Join us at Basti on March 14th at 18:00 for a short, hands-on milling workshop!
Learn machine safety, the basics of how metal-cutting works, and fundamental machine operation (DRO, vise setup, endmills, etc). We'll cover drilling, facing, and may even make some handy T-Nuts (a great first project!). Come learn to turn raw stock into precision components!

Frauenabend mit Belimo

Women’s* Evening with Belimo

Komm mit auf eine Führung durch das Lindt Home of Chocolate und probiere die berühmte Schweizer Schokolade in verschiedensten Formen! Treffpunkt ist 15:45 Uhr vor dem Lindt Home of Chocolate in Kilchberg. Die Tour wird rund eine Stunde dauern und etwa um 17:30 beendet sein. Der Preis ist 17 Fr. pro Person und kann nur vor Ort per Twint bezahlt werden. Taschen sind in der Ausstellung nicht erlaubt, es hat jedoch kostenlose Schliessfächer beim Eingang.

Join us on a guided tour through the museum Lindt Home of Chocolate and get a taste of the famous Swiss chocolate. We will meet infront of the building at 15:45 in Kilchberg. The tour is one hour and  will be finished around 17:30. Price is 17 Fr. per person and can only be payed via twint at arrival. Note that bags are prohibited in the museum but there are lockers free of charge before the tour begins.

Tja, Pech gehabt, denn wir berühren Kunststoffgriffe, um das Gefühl nachzuahmen, echte Felsen im Freien zu berühren. Komm vorbei und lerne die Kunst, einen „Sloper“ zu streicheln oder einen „Crimp“ zu edgen. Der einzige Ort, an dem (Wo)mansplaining als „Aid“ gilt und es gleichzeitig akzeptabel ist, eine Route performativ „vorzuklettern“.

Have you ever been told to "touch grass" by your non-engineering friends? Well too bad, because we are touching plastic holds to simulate the sensation of touching actual rocks in the outdoors. Come and learn about the art of caressing a "sloper" or edging a "crimp". The only place where (wo)mansplaining is considered "aid", while still being able to performatively "pre-climb" a route is acceptable behaviour.

AMIV geht Bouldern

AMIV goes Bouldering

Tichu ist ein bekanntes Schweizer Spiel, in welchem man zwei gegen zwei spielt. Bitte meldet euch als Team an. Falls ihr noch auf der Suche nach einem Teampartner seid, könnt ihr euch bei mir melden (lgoerdes@ethz.ch). Anfänger sind herzlich willkommen, ganz besonders, da auch 30 VMP Teams mitspielen werden - per Definition alles Anfänger. Kurz vor dem Turnier ist freies Spiel, bei welchem man sich einspielen oder die Regeln kennenlernen kann. Eine Anmeldung ist nur für das Turnier benötigt, nicht für das freie Spiel davor. Es wird um Ruhm und Ehre gekämpft! Wer wird der Tichu Champion sein?
Das freie Spiel beginnt um 17:30 und das Turnier findet zwischen 18:00 und 22:00 statt.

Tichu is a well-known Swiss game in which you play two against two. Please register as a team. If you are still looking for a team mate you can reach out to me (lgoerdes@ethz.ch). Beginners are very welcome. Especially since a few AMIV teams will be joining us - all beginners per definition. Shortly before the tournament there is some free play, where you can familiarise yourself with the game and learn the rules. Registration is only required for the tournament, not for the free play beforehand. There will be a fight for fame and honour! Who will be the Tichu champion?
The free play starts at 17:30 and the turnament takes place from 18:00 to 22:00.

Lust, die AMIV/VIS/VMP/VSETH IT kennenzulernen und weiterzubringen? Am Coding Weekend wird über zwei Tage an der IT Infrastuktur gebugfixed, weiterentwickelt und erneuert. Gemeinsam mit AMIV, VIS, VMP und VSETH SEK fahren wir nach Engelberg und programmieren gemeinsam! Es ist keine Erfahrung notwendig und es wird gerne einander geholfen, das ist also eine gute Gelegenheit, in kurzer Zeit viel neues zu lernen! Die Anmeldung läuft über den VIS und die Teilnehmer werden manuell ausgewählt, also unbedingt auch anmelden, wenn keine freien Plätze mehr angezeigt werden!

Would you like to get to know AMIV/VIS/VMP/VSETH IT and improve it? During the Coding Weekend, the IT infrastructure will be bugfixed, further developed and renewed over two days. Together with AMIV, VIS, VMP and VSETH SEK we will go to Engelberg and code together! No experience is necessary and someone will gladly help you to get started working on our projects, this is a good opportunity to learn a lot in a short time! The signup is handled by VIS and the participants are manually selected, so sign up even if the event shows as full!
